Commemorating the Fallen via an online exhibition

Shaping Our Sorrow, Commonwealth War Graves Commission

Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) is an international foundation that honours the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the WW1 and WW2, ensuring that they will never be forgotten. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, CWGC and Surface Impression got together to create an online exhibition to unify themes identified by CWGC and the story of remembrance into one place. The project was titled Shaping Our Sorrow.

Surface Impression designed and built a vibrant and dynamic interface, that is respectful of the subject matter and aligns with the CWGC corporate brand. The high-performing and visually pleasing website incorporates an online exhibition, with an efficient and engaging architecture. The aim is to facilitate organic navigation through the content that encourages audiences to extend their exploration of this extensive resource of war history.
