Multi-site access to libraries and archives

Portsmouth City Council

This new redesigned Portsmouth Libraries & Archives website for Portsmouth City Council, UK, unites three previously separate websites into a multisite hub.

As the Public Library Service is an essential service for many of the people of Portsmouth, the new site is user-friendly and design conscious. The site architecture is simple, so that visitors can easily and quickly find what they need: they can directly search the catalogue to borrow a book; view information about an event; or access the library’s extensive digital collection.

The Portsmouth History Centre website allows public access to Portsmouth’s large historical archive. There is a range of resources and services, and some of the archive materials are available digitally.

The School Library Service site is dedicated to encouraging reading and providing library services for schools in Portsmouth and beyond. It specialises in children’s books, and offers specific resources for school libraries and librarians. There are also events and challenges, which children throughout the Portsmouth area can participate in.
