The historical heart of American ceramics

Potteries of Trenton Society

The Potteries of Trenton Society preserves the history and knowledge of pottery making in Trenton, New Jersey, one of two major ceramic producing centers in the United States. In the 19th and early 20th centuries Trenton’s potteries produced a wide range of products, from art porcelain, table and kitchen wares, to sanitary ware (wash sets, bathtubs, sinks and toilets). At its peak, the area boasted dozens of workshops and factories.

The Potteries of Trenton Society seeks to promote the study and appreciation of the local industry, to encourage heritage tourism, and to enable research by historians, academics and others interested in the industry and craft of the Trenton Potteries. The website needed to be visual in nature, showcasing the peak of artistic practice, with easy access to research materials.
