Millions of personal stories from the First World War

Imperial War Museum

Lives of the First World War, created for Imperial War Museums (IWM), tells the stories of individuals from across Britain and the Commonwealth who experienced the Great War in uniform, working on the home front, and even conscientious objectors.

The website presents over 7 million records of men and women whose stories were enhanced by over 160,000 contributors from the UK and around the world. Working closely with the Imperial War Museums and data specialists Knowledge Integration, we created an accessible, user-friendly interface with its own clear identity, but compatible with the IWM’s overall digital architecture and branding.
