User testing allows a further level of compliance for a website or app. Access user testing includes testing with disabled people with a range of access needs, some using assistive technologies and access tools to get online. Test formats include focus groups, one-to-one sessions, and pairs. Currently all our user testing is online, presenting a great opportunity to reach many more users, and to record and share sessions.
At Surface Impression we manage the entire user testing process for our clients – recruiting, facilitating the sessions, and analyzing findings and outcomes.
To find out how accessible a site or app is, we work together with a large pool of users with a variety of access needs including: blind users using screen readers; visually impaired users using screen magnifiers; D/deaf and hard of hearing users; users with learning (developmental) disabilities; users with specific learning difficulties including dyslexia; users with physical disabilities. Increasingly best practice and/or regulations around the world suggest or stipulate that service providers make sure their sites work with common assistive technologies.
